The West Bengali area of Birbhum is where Khesh weaving first appeared. It is unique and created from discarded saris. The craftspeople's endeavour to use environmentally friendly methods is called Khesh. The weaving of Khesh is straightforward. New yarn is used to make the warp, while old saris were torn lengthwise to create the weft, which is formed of tiny strips of fabric.

The craft traditions and cultures of India have withstood the depredation of time and several foreign invasions and have continued to flourish till date. It is mainly due to the open mindedness of the Indian handicraftsmen to accept and incorporate new ideas.

For handblock printed cottons, gentle starching may be done if required to maintain crispness.

For pure silk handwoven sarees, always dry clean and store in a muslin cloth, folded with acid-free paper if possible. Keep away from moisture and perfumes to retain the fabric’s sheen and softness.

Each piece is shipped with care directly from our artisan clusters, which means it may take up to 10 days to dispatch—unless otherwise mentioned on the product tag.
