  • In the Indian subcontinent, khesh is a thin cotton blanket cloth that is used for winter wraps and blankets. Khesh is often made by hand using coarse cotton yarns. It is a straightforward garment that men in northwest India and Pakistan wear loosely to cover their top bodies.
  • Khesh is a significant textile in the Punjab region, which historically has been recognized for producing not only Khes but also a wide variety of coarse cotton textiles, particularly in the 19th and 20th centuries. Khesh is a comfort item that is used in bedding and can be used as a cover as well.
  • Women who live in the villages of Punjab, India have been weaving khes for years as a component of the trousseau they bring with them to their new home. It is essential to use as a coverlet while sleeping given its stunning, symmetrical, and creative color patterns.
  • The common myth among historians is that weaving evolved from the manufacturing of mats, which feature straightforward geometric designs and are occasionally braided and other times just coiled. On the bases of pottery vessels from the Indus sites as early as Neolithic times, impressions of evidently identical coiled matting are discovered. These recurring patterns provide new proof of Punjab's remarkable ability to preserve cultural patterns. Long ago, during the Mughal era, the khes was evolved to satisfy the demand for a cotton blanket.

Care

Care Instructions
Our products are handcrafted with love—handwoven or handblock printed by skilled artisans. To ensure their longevity:

Dry clean only is recommended for all our products to preserve texture, color, and craftsmanship.

Avoid direct sunlight to prevent color fading over time.

For handblock printed cottons, gentle starching may be done if required to maintain crispness.

For pure silk handwoven sarees, always dry clean and store in a muslin cloth, folded with acid-free paper if possible. Keep away from moisture and perfumes to retain the fabric’s sheen and softness.

Preserve the beauty of handmade—handle with care.
